Hi, Messenger! Congratulations to China on the Olmpics! I was moved to tears several times watching the marvelous
Opening Ceremony. (I've watched it twice today!) I was particularly impressed with China's welcome to the various countries - even though in some cases there were simmering political difficulties. I must admit the best part for me was your emphasis on children, both of China and the world at large. The story of the young child who, during the Parade of Countries, was walking with one of your most famous athletes, Yao Ming touched my heart! May all the children of the world learn about him and emulate him in difficult times. Next, and I do not mean to stir up a problem here, but I was also moved by my country's athletes picking Lopez Lompong as our flag bearer. I have a friend from Ethopia who had a tough time years ago in Ethopia, whose story, while very grim and also inspiring, was different than that of Lopez's, but his ordeal made me more aware of Lopez's difficult life seeveral years ago. In closing I would like to refer to your country's Olympic Slogan - one world, one dream - by saying GO WORLD! Let's celebrate PEOPLE!

I just recieved my new Messenger. The earthquake coverage was nothing short of amazing. Cudos to all involved. When hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the American government couldn't figure out how to get a truck load of water to a football stadium full of displaced residents. Why am I not surprized? Also the I appriciate the article about the Lhasa riots. I can't watch tv news here much, for obvious reasons. If I said now what I really want to say, you would think me crude and bitter, so I will say so long for now, and keep up the great work. We need you.
